Luna brings smiles to the Illawarra Hospital School
August 2026
In August 2026 the Illawarra Mercury told the story of Luna, the golden retriever who visits the Illawarra Hospital School with her PAWS handler, Alison.
The school is a brightly coloured room of learning inside the children's ward at Wollongong Hospital. Amid the beeping machines and white walls of a hospital stay, a visit from Luna helps young patients feel a little more like kids again.
Read the full story by Nadine Morton in the Illawarra Mercury: Wollongong Hospital therapy dog brings smiles to sick kids.
