Goodbye Rockstar, we love you.

Just before Easter we had to say goodbye to our special, crazy, goofy, lovable Rocky. He was only 6 years old, but had packed a lot of love into his short life.

Rocky and his brother Hudson, both rescue dogs, came into our lives in 2012.

They had both been neglected and unloved, but held no grudges,

and embraced their new family life with open paws.

Rocky was the first to start his Paws career – it was definitely his calling.

Hudson on the other hand, was a bit timid and shy and

needed a few extra months to develop his confidence.

Rocky, otherwise known as Rockstar, Rockafeller or Rocket Man,

loved his job, and brightened the day for 1000’s of people in cancer care,

hospitals, rehab, palliative care and disability groups over the past 5 years.

Patients would look forward to Rocky’s visits, and staff couldn’t help themselves – they patted and kissed him and Rocky often came home from a visit

with his face covered in lipstick.

Rocky had a (thankfully) short battle with leukemia,

and was put to sleep on the evening of 12th April.

He did not suffer and wagged his beautiful blonde tail, almost to the end.

We will never, ever forget you, Rocky. You made us laugh hysterically

with your love for whipped cream and your pre-dinner dance every night.

You frustrated us with your refusal to bring back your precious Kong,

and at the end you made us cry at the unfairness of the world.

Rocky, you brought joy, love and light into the world

and made it a better place for everyone who knew you.

Rest In Peace precious boy.

Rocky
